Custom dark wood kitchen cabinetry with integrated handles

Cabinets & millwork

Custom millwork, built to your elevations.

Millwork is the difference between a finished room and a furnished one. Crateworks supplies custom built-ins, wainscoting, wall paneling, ceiling treatments, mantels, and architectural joinery, drawn to your elevations, finished in the family running through the rest of the project.

Built-in, wall panel, ceiling treatment

Built-ins: shelving towers, window-seat benches, banquette cabinetry, full-wall display units. Wall paneling: wainscoting, board-and-batten, flat-panel, raised-panel, applied molding. Ceiling: coffered, tray, beam-treated, custom.

Every piece drawn from your architectural elevations. Joinery detail (mitered corners, scribe lines, reveals) called out on the order.

Finish family and species

Paint-grade (MDF or solid stile/rail) for traditional and transitional projects. Stain-grade (rift-and-quartered oak, walnut, cherry, maple) for contemporary and heritage. Veneered panels for budget-sensitive runs that need the wood look without the solid-wood cost.

Finish family (paint color, stain match, sheen) matched against the cabinet, door, and trim package so the millwork reads as continuous architecture.

Common questions

Cabinets are typically functional storage with doors. Millwork covers everything else built from wood at the architectural level: built-in shelving, wall paneling, ceiling treatments, mantels, stair components. The same shop does both; they ship together as one schedule.
Paint-grade uses MDF for panels and solid pine/poplar for stiles and rails, cheaper and the paint hides the joinery. Stain-grade uses real-wood species throughout so the grain shows; cost is higher because the wood selection matters.
From your architectural elevations. If drawings are not available, we work from photographs, dimensions, and a reference style. Shop drawings issued before production for approval.
Yes. Provide a sample of the existing trim profile (a 6-inch piece is enough) and we match the profile or design a complementary one. Stain or paint matched against a sample piece you supply.
10 to 16 weeks for full custom millwork from approved shop drawings to delivery. Lead time scales with the complexity of the joinery and the species selection.
