Triple-weave lining vs blackout-rated fabric
Triple-weave blackout lining: a separate layer behind a decorative face fabric. Blocks 99-100% of light. Lets you keep the linen-or-velvet look on the face fabric.
Blackout-rated fabric (full blackout): the face fabric itself is woven dense enough to block light. Fewer fabric choices but lighter overall. No separate lining layer.
Sized for edge-to-edge block
Stock blackout curtains leave gaps at the sides where light bleeds in. Custom sizing extends the curtain 4-8 inches past each side of the window casing and 6-12 inches above the top so the curtain panel covers the casing entirely when drawn.
For absolute light block (home theater, sensitive sleeper), wrap-around rods or ceiling-mounted tracks bring the curtain to the wall, eliminating side bleed entirely.
