Sliding Glass Doors
A sliding glass door is a wall of glass panels that slide horizontally along a track to open a room to the outside, with narrow aluminum frames and a low threshold. Crateworks builds sliding glass doors in thermally-broken aluminum, from standard two-panel sets to large panoramic runs, made to your opening for renovation and replacement projects.
Best for: Patios, decks, and rear walls where you want a wide glass opening and a flat threshold to step over.

Open cold-climate canada →Common questions
- What is the difference between a standard and a panoramic sliding door?
- A standard sliding door has two or three panels where one slides past another. A panoramic sliding door uses a heavier track and slimmer interlocks to run larger panels with minimal frame between them, so the open glass area is wider and the sightlines are thinner. Crateworks builds both, sized to your opening.
- Do sliding glass doors have a low threshold?
- Yes, a low or near-flush threshold is available, which removes the trip step between inside and the patio and makes the opening easier to cross. The exact threshold detail depends on the configuration and the weather exposure, which we confirm on quote.
- How wide can a sliding glass door be?
- Width depends on the panel count and the track. Wider openings use more panels and a heavier panoramic track to carry them. Crateworks confirms the maximum clear opening for your specific wall and panel weight before building.
- Do these doors carry weather and structural certifications?
- We frame our exterior doors for renovation and replacement, and we only state a specific certification once the supplier has furnished the test documentation in writing. Requirements like water-tightness and wind-load vary by location. Tell us where the project is and we will confirm what we can document before you order.
