Transom Windows

A transom window is a window mounted above a door or another window. It is usually fixed and exists to add daylight and height to the opening below it. The name comes from the transom, the horizontal bar that separates it from the door or window beneath.

Most transom windows are fixed, since their job is light and proportion rather than ventilation, but an operable transom is possible where you want airflow high in the room. Crateworks builds fixed or operable transoms to your opening.

This configuration is positioned for renovation and replacement projects while we close out additional certification. The thermally-broken aluminum casement, tilt-turn, fixed-picture, awning, and arc-top configurations are NFRC certified today; we are sequencing the rest of the line through the same path.
